São Mathias also known as Malar is a village on Divar island, Tiswadi or Ilhas, in the Indian state of Goa. The island is located 10 km upriver from Panjim. Village Panchayat of Sao-Matias is part of Divar Island located approximately upriver 10 km from Panaji city and same is surrounded with Old Goa on the south east side ribandar in the south west Naroa on the North Side from further North West in the Island Village of Vanxim . People from the village have to cross ferry boat either old Goa or Sao-Pedro and Narva routes as there is no access. The said Divar Village lies in the Mondovi river in the state of Goa.This village consists of Agricultural property/Paddyfield, sluice gates and village is famous for “Bonderam” and “Potekar” festivals. The village Sao-Matias consists of three revenue villages- Malar, Naroa and Capao. Sao Matias Village has three churches Malar Naroa Holy spirit church, Vanxim St. Christo Church, also temples Shri.
